Work had me up in Auckland this week so there wasn't any modelling done
I did how ever get around a few of the modellers
Monday was Alec Fenton and Neville Connew these guys a competing at scenery at the moment, Alec is working on his 1800 x 400 module and Neville on his layout. Saw some very nice ideas for trees and bushes which will need to be tried out at sometime in the future. Using static flocking in layers to build up the twig structure and then ground foam and leaf over this for the foliage. Very nice work you guys
Tuesday was Soren Low all way good for a chat and catch up. Soren has just finished a road crossing module for work (kiwirail) and got a bit carried away with the scenery too.
Wednesday Alec invited me along to the 9mm group meeting at Trevor Cheer's place. 9mm models are always amazing and I would love dearly to have the space for a 9mm empire, one day maybe after I win Lotto, yeah right!
When I got back home there was the package from shapeways waiting for me. The finished model of the Roger's gearbox worked nicely but I'm going to have to re design it a little, the process is a bit +/- a few more millimetres than I expected. What I thought would be enough room for the North Yard gears was a little tight. I'm very impressed with the strength of the thing i've been handling it and bending and twisting it for days and it hasn't broken
